We have a US Foods Chef Store by our house and for a while now I have been wondering if it is worth a trip inside. Well, I am happy to report that my trip to the Chef Store was not only money saving, but eye opening as well. I took some pictures for you and wanted to share with you the 6 things you should buy at the Chef Store. Here are some of the best deals I could find compared to other stores. Now, this was my first and only shopping trip to the Chef Store, so I will definitely be back to look for more great deals. Here are my top 6 things to buy at the Chef Store:
When I went shopping at the Chef’s Store they were having a sale on chicken breasts – $1.49 per pound for fresh chicken breasts. This is an excellent price! You do have to buy a case, which is about 40 pounds. If this seems like a lot of chicken, consider splitting this with a friend or family member.
The week I was at the Chef Store, they had 81/19 Lean Ground Beef on sale for $2.68 per lb. Their ground beef is sold in 10 lb chubs and this price was only good on the case (about 80 pounds per case). This is A LOT of ground beef, but again, if it seems like to much for you, consider sharing it with someone. They carry other ground beef options, but this was by far the cheapest.
One tip when buying a lot of fresh food at once – invest in a Food Saver! Sealing food in a Food Saver bag and then freezing it will keep it fresh as the day you bought it for months! I have had this Food Saver for a few years now and we have used it countless times! We have never had any food spoil after we vacuum sealed it with the Food Saver.
Besides the chicken, probably my most favorite find at the Chef Store was the great values on cheese! Don’t judge, but our family eats a lot of cheese.
This 5 pound bag of shredded cheddar cheese was priced at $11.58. This is just $2.32 per lb or the equivalent of just $1.16 per 8 ounce bag (like what you would typically find at the grocery store). That is a terrific price!
I also found a 10 pound block of Cheddar Cheese for just $27.92. That comes to $2.79 per pound, or the equivalent of $1.39 per 8 ounce package. This is a great price! Now, while we eat a lot of cheese, my husband chops the cheese into chunks and we Food Save each chunk. We freeze the shredded cheese, but we simply keep the chunk cheese in the fridge. The Food Saver keeps it fresh, even in the fridge.
Finally, in the cheese section, I found a 5 pound block of sliced cheese for just $13.43. That comes to about $1.34 per small package of sliced cheese from the grocery store. Sliced cheese freezes great, so take out what you need and freeze the rest.
As with most of the other items I’ve mentioned already, I usually buy these items from Sam’s Club. Pepperoni is no exception. The only problem is that the last few times I’ve been into Sam’s, I haven’t seen the pepperoni.
I was was very excited to find this 5 pound package of pepperoni for $14.98. That is the equivalent of only $1.12 per typical 6 ounce bag of pepperoni! That is a really nice price. Pepperonis do great in the freezer, too.
For my first visit to the Chef Store, I have to say that I was impressed. I won’t have to go back for a while, but I will definitely be on the look out for more great deals the next time I’m there.
