FROZEN BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS
Do you have a little girl that is obsessed with the Frozen movie? I know we do!
My niece wanted a Frozen birthday party for her 7th birthday and my sister just new that it was going to get expensive. However… with some clever thinking she was able to have a frozen birthday party for under $100.
She was kind enough to let me take pictures so I could show you how you can do it too! These ideas are fun and frugal and sure to be a blast!
Let’s get started with these frozen birthday party ideas on a budget!
1. You need an outfit!
At the time, Frozen dresses were sold out or too expensive so she opted to go with a custom t-shirt from Etsy instead. (By the way Frozen and Elsa dresses are on sale here – they weren’t when she threw this party)
If you wanted to, you can just buy a cute Frozen shirt from anywhere… it doesn’t have to be personalized. Here are some cute shirts for under $15.
2. Frozen birthday party decorations
Any theme party can get expensive if you buy all the fancy decorations. Instead… make your own adorable decorations for your Frozen Birthday party.
They already had the dry erase board, so my niece drew a picture of olaf on the dry erase board and and wrote “Some people are worth melting for” on it. Isn’t is just adorable?
My sister made a Happy Birthday sign out of felt triangles. Her daughter painted the letters on with paint the already had and they attached them with string and tiny clothes pins.
On the tables, my sister used plastic table clothes (only $1 or so each), but if you have white table cloths laying around for the holidays, use those! 🙂
They made snowflakes out of coffee filters! Isn’t that brilliant?
Then she bought snow flake confetti for just a few dollars. And they made tissue paper pom poms to decorate around the house. If you have never made pom poms before you can buy a kit here or make them from scratch.
2. Simple frozen themed party food ideas
The Cupcakes were very easy to make. She used vanilla cake mix and blue cupcake liners.
Amazon has these cute blue cupcake liners on sale right now. She used this Homemade buttercream icing recipe and then topped with some cute blue sprinkles. To top them off, she bought some personalized cupcake toppers on etsy.
I just thought they were adorable… and they tasted amazing!
For the snacks she had her daughters favorite fruits and then giant marshmallows for the “ice cubes”. You could also do powdered donuts or donut holes. Think white and snowflakes for your snack ideas.
No need to look for frozen party food ideas pinterest with so many fun ideas right here. You could also make Disney Frozen Jello Ice Cubes. So cute!
Frozen birthday party games:
3. Game 1: Pin the nose on Olaf.
This game game was a blast with the little kids… and even the big boys. She used an old Olaf helium balloon. It cost her nothing because someone had given it to her.
They have them on sale right now here. She just taped the balloon up. Then she cut out a “nose” out of construction paper.
The boys and girls loved the game!
4. Game 2: Thaw a Frozen Heart
This game was probably the hit of the party.
My sister cut out hearts out of construction paper. She then submerged them in to ice cube trays, filled them up and froze them.
The object of the game is to thaw the frozen heart. Each time is in a straight line .
They had to pass the frozen heart over their heads, then under their legs, over their heads and then under their legs.
If you drop it, then you have to get a new frozen heart. You will want to make probably two containers of ice cubes.
The kids had a lot of fun. It took a while to for them to thaw, but it was fun for them to get the hearts out.
5. Game 3: Hot potato with Olaf
I didn’t get a good picture of this, but basically she used a soft olaf toy. All the kids sit around in the circle and the children pass Olaf around until the music stops.
She had downloaded Frozen music and stopped it periodically. You continue playing until only one person is left.
The kids always love this game! This is a great game for a filler if you are going to quickly during your party.
6. Craft – Making Crowns
This was a fun and easy craft. My sister bought some crowns. She then had some markers and jewel stickers that the girls and boy could decorate to make their own crown.
- You can buy jewel stickers here for cheap.
- Dozen Prism Metallic Crowns – $5.38
7. Face Painting!
You can’t have a party without some face painting. We used face painting pens which made is MUCH easier to do.
The girls LOVED getting glasses drawn on their face or getting snowflakes. We even drew “boy” stuff for the boys.
My older son got a USA on his face because there was the USA soccer game later that day. Here are some Face Paint Sticks for a good deal.
The trick with face painting is recruiting family members to do it for you. Don’t pay a fortune for a professional.
Each party guest loved it even thought I wasn’t that great. 🙂 (Yes, my sister recruited me)
You could even do a photo booth or another fun activity is this Frozen DIY Play Snow.
When I think about Frozen I think about glitter. If you are looking for more fun ideas, learn how to make Glitter Slime.
8. The Pinata!
You have to have a pinata. The most expensive part of the party besides the custom items from Etsy would be the candy and the pinata.
I didn’t get any great pictures of the pinata, because I was too busy making sure no child got hit with a the baseball bat. 🙂
Now you can make a Frozen pinata for under $5. Check out that post here.
Pinatas are always fun and are a must at our parties. 🙂
Once you have your Frozen pinata made, you will need to fill it with frozen party supplies:
- Disney Frozen Party Favor Pack 48pc
- Disney Frozen Movie Stickers – 75 Per Pack
- Disneys Frozen Sticker Party Favors
- Disney Frozen Temporary Tattoos (Set of 10 Sheets)
- Pinata Filler Candy and Toys
- Lootbag Pinata Filler Candy Mix
9. The Party Favors
Since you did the pinata, you don’t really need much in the goody bags. They had some stickers made on etsy when she got the cupcake toppers done.
She added some poppers, a frozen pin, some stickers, and a glow stick to each party favor.
It doesn’t take much to make a party special.
As you can see, my niece had an amazing party and it didn’t cost her mommy too much money. By focusing on homemade games and activities you can really keep the cost of a Frozen birthday party down.
