how to cut your grocery budget in half

As many of you know I’m back on track to couponing. After 4 kiddos moved in with us (that we adopted in August) life has been a bit busy and I fell of the coupon wagon. 🙁

Since today is the start of a new year, I thought you (and me) could get back on track to live with saving money. Starting today I am doing a 30 days to cut your grocer budget in half series. So every day I’ll be posting a new post… a new idea, and a new tool to help you save money. After thirty days…. your budget should be lower… much lower.

However, we are all starting to get settled in and I decided it was about time to attack my grocery bill and get back to couponing. I have already gone back to the store a few times and snagged some great deals with my printable coupons.

It is the FIRST week of my goal to cut my grocery budget in half. You would think that my goal would be to set a budget first, but that isn’t it. My goal is to start couponing. It is that simple. While it may seem backwards, it is actually really smart. My goal in this week and next is to NOT save money, it is to build a stockpile. Since I have a family of 10 now, that is going to be hard. It isn’t impossible, but it will be hard.

Since I haven’t been able to coupon I haven’t really been worried about my budget. So I’m going to stick with that. I’m going to get WAY more food and I’m just going to focus on the actually couponing part.

Here are my goals this week.

1. Get organized!

My goal is to clean out my coupon box. Yep, clean it out. Oh boy it looks bad. Just look at below. I think I am actually going to have to dust it off. 🙂 If you haven’t started an organizational system yet. I highly recommend a coupon box and I even have a coupon code for one right now. 2. Print and organize coupons regularly.

I post a coupon roundup every day of the newest and best coupons. Plus I have all the BEST coupons that I find on a regular basis. Instead of waiting, I’m printing them as soon as I see them. At the end of the day, I’m cutting and organizing my printable coupons.

3. I’m throwing away coupons and starting over.

Because I haven’t couponed in so long, my inserts are piled high. Instead of stressing out about it, I’m just starting fresh. I’m recycling them and starting from this week’s coupons. My goal each week is to have them clipped by Monday night or they go in the trash. No more piled up coupons. No more stressing about it. I’ll just either get it done or

I know it doesn’t seem like much but the best way to start saving money is to jump right in to couponing.
