DIY Teacher Appreciation Pencil Vase

I have a very frugal and fun Teacher gift idea for you today. This Pencil Vase with flowers is so easy to make. You can buy nearly all of the supplies at the dollar store.

You can make this for Teacher appreciation week, the end of the school year, or a fun back to school gift idea! Show your teacher how much you care this year.

This is a great example of a thoughtful gift that does not cost a fortune. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to show someone how much you care.

Supplies for pencil vase.

Supplies for pencil vase:

  • Tall Cylindrical Vase (approximately 7 1/2″ tall). I found mine at Dollar tree!
  • 40-50 Yellow Wooden Pencils
  • Ribbon
  • Artificial Flowers. You can find some at dollar tree too! (You could put in fresh flowers if you wanted!)
  • Hot Glue
Pencils being glued on the vase.

How to make this Easy Pencil Vase:

  • Step 1. Attach pencils to the vase using a hot glue gun.
  • Step 2. Tie a bow around the vase.
  • Step 3. Insert flowers into the vase. You can add floral foam inside the vase to secure the flowers if needed.

Variations

  • Flowers. You can use fresh flowers instead of artificial if you prefer.
  • Pencils. Substitute multi colored pencils if want to make this more colorful.
  • Ribbon. You can use any color ribbon. I was going to use yellow, but I loved the red in the end. I picked up the ribbon at dollar tree as well.
  • Gift Card. It is not necessary but you can attach a gift card to this DIY Pencil Vase.

This pencil vase is a very easy project and simple to adapt with these variations. The entire project is so thoughtful.

It will look so fun in any teacher’s classroom. My kids’ teachers are going to love it!

How much can you make this for:

  • Vase – $1.25
  • Ribbon – $1.25
  • Pencils – Pencils are often $.10 or FREE right before school starts. Stock up like I did
  • Hot Glue – I used probably $1 in glue
