Supplies
- Tissue Paper. Choose any color you love.
- Round Bowl. This is to use to trace and should be about 4.5″ in diameter measured with a ruler.
- Pencil. Make sure it is sharp.
- Scissors.
- Green Pipe Cleaners. This is to make the stem.
How To Make Blue Flowers
Step 1. Stack up 10 sheets of tissue paper and place the bowl on top of the layer, face down.
Step 2. Use a pencil to trace the bowl onto the tissue paper. Cut out the sheets of tissue paper on the line.
Step 3. Gently fold the circle in half and cut two small slits in the center, about 1/4″ apart.
Step 4. Thread a pipe cleaner through the two holes in the tissue paper folds.
Step 5. Twist the end tightly around the base. This should cause the paper of the flower to bend and shape at the center.
Step 6. Fluff the petals. This is the fun part! Gently pull the petal shapes apart and twist the first layer all the way to the last layer in opposite directions. It is that easy to make the first flower.
How To Make Orange Flowers
Step 1. Stack 8 sheets of one-color tissue paper and 2 sheets of a separate color. Place a bowl on top, face down, and trace with a pencil. Cut out the paper on the line. Cut the edges, keeping the sections about 1/4″ apart and cutting about 1″ fringe into the tissue paper.
Step 2. Gently fold the circle in half and cut two small slits in the center, about 1/4″ apart.

How To Make Pink Flowers
Step 1. Stack 8 sheets of one-color tissue paper and 2 sheets of a separate color. Place a bowl on top, face down, and trace with a pencil. Cut out the paper on the line. Cut the edges of the paper to create flower petals. The petals should be about 1″ to 1.5″ in length.
Step 2. Gently fold the circle in half and cut two small slits in the center, about 1/4″ apart. Thread a pipe cleaner through the two holes and twist the end tightly around the base of the flower. This should cause the paper of the flower to bend and shape at the center.
- Step 3. Gently fluff the petals, by separating each piece of tissue paper and twisting the tissue paper stack in opposite directions.
- Step 4. To display, cut 2 small sheets of tissue paper to a point to create leaves and tuck the tissue paper strip around the flower stems in a small container. You can add ribbon if desired.
Pro Tips
- Handle with care. The tissue paper is very thin so be gentle as you pull the layers apart from the bottom edge to the top.
- Floral Tape or Floral Wire. You can use floral tape or a piece of floral wire from the craft store to help secure the flower to the stem.
- Display in vase. The flowers with stems are perfect to place in a vase.
- Different colors. It’s so much fun to use different colors of tissue paper to make an assortment of flowers.
- Big Flowers. You can even make larger flowers for another fun DIY.
- Mini Tissue Paper Flowers. Try making mini versions of these tissue paper flowers.
- Separate the layers. Make sure to separate each layer of tissue paper. This will make the flower look full.
