Charcoal mask in a jar ready to use.

We all want clearer looking skin but paying a fortune for facial masks is not something many of us can do. Learn how to make this easy DIY Charcoal Mask to remove impurities from your skin and deep cleanse.

You can find activated charcoal in many products such as toothpaste, soaps, masks and more. We also make Activated Charcoal Teeth Whitening.

Why We Love This

Your pores will be visibly smaller, and dirt and oil will be a thing of the past. This is an easy mask to make and very budget friendly.

Activated charcoal can draw toxins from the body and have strong cleansing properties. This makes it perfect if you struggle with blackheads, excess oil, acne breakouts and more.

Skip the expensive store bought products and make your own. You don’t have to worry about what all is in the mask or ingredients you can’t pronounce.

Charcoal Mask Ingredients

Supplies for charcoal mask - bentonite clay, activated charcoal powder, coconut oil, water, lavender essential oil.

Step By Step Instructions

Dry ingredients in a bowl.

Step 1. Add the bentonite clay to a glass or plastic bowl.  Do NOT use metal with bentonite clay as the clay will absorb the metal and become less effective. Mix in the 2 tablespoons of activated charcoal powder with the bentonite clay.  Use a plastic or wooden spoon to mix.

Melted coconut added to the bowl.

Step 2. Slowly mix in the melted coconut oil until a paste forms.  The mixture will be thick.

Water added to the mixture.

Step 3. Slowly add and mix in the water to the mixture until the consistency that you desire is achieved.

Lavender essential oil added to the mixture.

Step 4. Mix in the lavender essential oil if you choose.

How to Use

To use, apply to your face with a face mask brush or your fingertips in circular motions.  Allow to dry (approximately 5 minutes) and then remove with lukewarm water.

It is thick so you can apply to only certain areas if desired such as your chin, cheek area and others.

Don’t forget to do a patch test on your skin when using new skin ingredients. Don’t use this too frequently or it can lead to skin dryness.

Storage

Store the face mask in a glass container. I like to use a small mason jar because they are inexpensive.

We are always making something around here and have lots of mason jars around. I love that you can wash and reuse them. It really helps us save money.
