How to clean car carpet mats – EASILY!

Step 1 – Lather them up

First thing you will want to do is get the car mats wet. I used a hose.

Then I used my secret weapon for cleaning car floor mats!

Fels Naptha!

Fels-Naptha bar is found in almost any store and even on Amazon. I have bought it at Crest (locally) and Walmart.

You will find it in the Laundry detergent aisle, so it isn’t hard to find. It is cheap too. The cost is only around $1 – actually we paid $.98. ;)

Take this special bar of soap and slightly rub all the stains. It only takes a minute.

Step 2 – Scrub

Don’t be scared by the word scrub. We used an inexpensive handheld scrubber that I think we bought at Dollar Tree.

I prefer one with a handle because it is easier to use. Amazon has several right now that would work great.  Scrub the fels-naptha into the stains and all over the mats to get that magical soap working.

Step 3 – Rinse

Once you have removed all the stains it is time to rinse. Take the hose and soak it down to get all the soap out.

We had a squeegee laying around and use used that to get the excess water out. Then we let them air dry in the sun.

I let them dry for about 24 hours just to be sure. That was it.
