Saving for Disney World Vacation

Today we are going to learn several tips to saving for a Disney Vacation. I know that this type of vacation seems out of reach for many but with intentional savings it can be a reality!

Here are several ways to save money that can be accumulated over time. You may even want to set up a separate savings account and transfer all of your savings to this account.

It can be a family event to watch it grow! The more of these you choose to do, the more quickly your fund will grow.

Disney can cost thousands of dollars but with a little planning and staying at a value resort, you can cut a lot of costs and get the price down.

There are lots of ways to save including going during free dining and taking advantage of the Disney dining plan. Save money at Disney with the quick service dining plan instead of the higher levels.

You can cut corners in areas that are not important to your family to spend in areas that are.

How much should I save for a Disney vacation?

Vacations vary greatly by family. The price is based on how many people, the ages, what type of resort, dining plans and more.

Each of these aspects greatly change the price. I suggest using the Disney website’s vacation planning feature to see what amount you need to save for your family.

White it can change once you actually book the trip, this is a great way to get a very good ballpark figure to work with.

Can you book a Disney vacation a year in advance?

Yes, you can. You can actually book the hotel only up to 499 days in advance.

Please note this is for the hotel only and you must call Disney directly to do so and can’t book this far in advance online.

Can you make payments on a Disney World vacation?

If you are booking a vacation package with hotel and tickets, all you need is $200 down and you can make your reservations.

Feel free to make payments as you go. The balance  just needs to be paid in full 30 days prior to guest arrival.

This is a great way to pay as you go and almost like a Disney world vacation payment plan.

13 easy Disney World money saving tips

1. Sell stuff on Facebook or Craigslist.

This is such a good way to quickly and easily earn some cash. Go through your house and gather any items that you no longer want and list them for sale.

Depending on where you live, Craigslist may be a good option.  Other areas might be more successful listing on your local Yard Sale page on Facebook. Most areas have several of these that can be found doing a quick search.

Just make sure to arrange a pick up place and time that is safe. Many people like to meet in a public place like a local Grocery Store parking lot or Mall parking lot.

2. Have a Yard Sale.

This is a good option if you have a bunch of smaller odds and ends that are hard to list on the Yard Sale page or Craigslist. You might consider having a yard sale with some of your friends.

Not only is it more fun but you will be able to advertise the yard sale as multi-family and that brings more people out!

3. Use Ibotta to save money.

Ibotta is an App that lets us save money on top of coupons when shopping. This app allows you to earn cash rebates on popular brands, products, stores, restaurants and more!

This can be combined with manufacturer coupons and store coupons for a great deal. Let this money accumulate for Disney!

You will be amazed at how quickly this adds up. You’ll have the cash deposited into your Ibotta account within 48 hours.

100% of your Ibotta earnings can be transferred to PayPal or Venmo as soon as you’ve earned $20.  If you’d rather convert your earnings into a gift card, you can do that, too.

4. Use Checkout 51 to save money.

Checkout 51 is another App that lets us save money on top of coupons.   You earn cash rebates on products AND this can be combined with manufacturer coupons and store coupons for a great deal.

You can even submit your receipt if you shop online – simply use your packing slip as your receipt.  When your account balance reaches $20, you can cash out and they will mail you a check.

5. Cut your Grocery bill in half and save the difference.

It isn’t as hard as you might think to save money on your groceries. Make sure you read saving money on groceries. You can have your grocery bill cut in half in no time. That means you can save the money you save towards a fun Disney vacation.

6. Cut out extra Spending.

Look for areas to cut back in and put that money in your Disney Fund. If you typically stop at Starbucks every day, just saving $5 one day a week will save you $260 in a year!

7. Use Inbox Dollars to earn money.

Taking surveys isn’t going to make you rich but it will make you some cash to add to your Disney Fund. Plus, you get a free $5 sign up bonus when you join Inbox Dollars.

Once you reach $30, you can cash out. You earn your money by taking surveys, opening emails, searching the web, etc. It’s worth a try, right?!?

8. Use Pinecone Research to earn money.

Another reputable survey site that I still use on a regular basis is Pinecone Research.  They email you surveys and you will ALWAYS qualify for them.

Some surveys will even give you a FREE product to test. Each survey earns you $3 and is deposited into your paypal account.

These are easy surveys and I love the fact that they are consistent with their surveys. Another great way to let funds accumulate for a Disney trip.

9. Use Opinion Outpost  to earn money for Disney.

Opinion Outpost is a popular option. Many readers prefer this site over the others simply because you can cash out so quickly.

You can use points earned by taking surveys to redeem Amazon gift cards, Citibank gift cards, or a check by mail.

10. Use Toluna to save money.

Toluna is an online survey company that also offers PAID Product Trials. That means you can get Free Products + Get Paid to review them by answering surveys about the products. Get rewarded in cash!

11. Sign up for the Disney Premier Visa Card.

I’m not one to advocate for credit cards, but the Disney credit card has a nice offer. Earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

You can also earn reward dollars that can be redeemed toward most everything Disney and enjoy the flexibility to redeem reward dollars for a statement credit toward airline travel.

12. Buy Disney Gift Cards

These can be used to pay for your vacation and also for spending money while on your trip. I know some people that try to grab one every week when they do their grocery shopping and just tuck it away. They add up quickly!

13. Family Change Jar

Make it a habit for everyone to put their change at the end of the day in a designated change jar. It’s amazing what you can save in change in a year’s time! Plus, it’s fun for the kids to watch the jar fill up.
