Ingredients

Ingredients for cornstarch slime - glue, food coloring, glycerin, cornstarch.
  • ¼ cup of Glue. Elmer’s school glue works really well.
  • Food Coloring. This is optional.
  • 1 Tablespoon Glycerin. It helps to create a stretchy texture in slime using glue.
  • ¾ cup of Cornstarch. This helps to make the slime less sticky. When combined with water or liquids it creates a non-Newtonian fluid.

Step By Step Instructions

Glue in mixing bowl.

Step 1. Add glue to a large bowl.

Food coloring drops in bowl.

Step 2. Stir in a few drops of food coloring (if using).

Mixture combined together.

Step 3. Stir with a spoon or spatula until the glue is the color that you choose.

Glycerin added to the bowl.

Step 4. Mix in the glycerin.

Cornstarch added to the glue mixture.

Step 5. Then stir in the cornstarch ¼ cup at a time until the mixture is combined and smooth. You may not need all the cornstarch.

Slime kneaded in hands.

Step 6. Knead the slime with your heads until it’s smooth and the perfect stretchy slime consistency.

Storage

Store in an airtight container or bag at room temperature.

Pro Tips

  • Add water to dry slime. If the slime dries out when it’s stored, just add a little water to make it stretchy again!
  • Thin slime texture. If the slime is too thick, add in more glycerin until it’s stretchy.
  • Reduce stickiness. If the slime is too sticky, add in more cornstarch until it’s the consistency that you prefer.
  • Fix crumbly slime. If the slime is too dry or crumbly, add a small drop of glue and mix.
