Homemade Body Wash is so easy to make and leaves your skin soft and hydrated. Our entire family loves it including the kids!
My skin has been so dry, and I wanted to try a new body wash that was more hydrating. We are trying to incorporate more natural products into our daily routine so I thought I would make homemade body wash.
Once you see how simple it is, you will make this all the time. With only a few ingredients needed to make body wash, you can whip this up very quickly. I also make Homemade Shampoo without harsh chemicals if you want to try that too.

It is gentle enough to use on all skin types and the perfect facial cleanser for sensitive skin. The whole family uses this natural body wash recipe with natural ingredients.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup melted coconut oil. I like fractionated coconut oil so it does not separate.
- ¼ cup Raw Honey
- ½ cup liquid Castile Soap
- 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil
- 10-13 Drops of Lavender Essential Oils for a calming soap that is good for skin irritation. If you prefer a masculine scent, try tea tree oil. Peppermint oil is also great to energize and wake up. Other favorites include sandalwood and orange essential oil.
- Glass Pump Jar
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1. Mix all the ingredients together and store in the glass Pump Jar or a soap dispenser. That is all you do. Now, you can use it for showers and baths.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can try substituting olive oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed or sweet almond oil for the coconut oil.
If you prefer to have the suds, you can add vegetable glycerin to make it lather. This will not impact how well it cleans but I know some prefer a sudsy body wash.
Castile soap can make your DIY body wash a little on the thin side. If you prefer a thicker body wash consistency, you make a soap base to add to the body wash to thicken it.
If store bought body wash irritates dry skin with eczema, give this a try. It is so soothing and moisturizing for a great body wash to use daily for the entire family.
It is so gentle and perfect for all skin types from oily skin to dry skin. Our entire family loves it, and we use it year-round.
You can make DIY body wash without honey if you prefer. This body wash can easily be adjusted to suit what you and your family likes.
You can omit the honey if you would rather not use honey. However, we just love the honey. It blends together for the best body wash and so moisturizing!

There are several substitutes for castile soap including goat’s milk, aleppo and canola. I find castile soap the easiest to use and works the best for our skin though.
I like to use a container with a pump to make it easy to use. Our body wash is stored in a glass pump jar.
You can also use a mason jar with a pump bottle lid for another great choice.
