Why We Love This
This type of slime is super easy and tons of fun without glue or borax. The consistency and texture is a little thinner than glue-based slime. It reminds me of Oobleck for Kids for another fun educational activity.
Many slime recipes call for a host of ingredients including shaving cream, contact solution, liquid food coloring, lotion and more. This recipe is so simple without any of those ingredients needed.
Ingredients
- ½ cup Cornstarch
- ⅓ cup Dish Soap. You can use any brand you prefer.
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1. First, add the corn starch to a medium bowl or large bowl.
Step 2. Next, pour the dish soap into the cornstarch.
Step 3. Mix until combined and smooth with a spoon or spatula. Let the mixture sit for 2 minutes. If the slime mixture is too dry add in more dish soap and if it’s too wet, add in more cornstarch until the slime is the consistency that you prefer.
Step 4. Finally, knead the slime until it’s smooth and stretchy.
Storage
Store in an airtight container or bag at room temperature. If the slime dries out when it’s stored, just add a small amount of water to make it stretchy again!
It is so easy that you really can make a new batch anytime.
Pro Tips
- Dish Soap. Any brand is fine but keep in mind the color will impact the final results. If you want a certain color, just use a dish soap in a color you like.
- Knead the slime. It’s important to knead the slime after combining it. This will help it reach the perfect consistency.
- Cover your table. I like to pick up inexpensive plastic cutting boards or plastic tablecloths from the dollar store. They are perfect for playing with slime and help with clean up.
- Perfect consistency. If the slime is too runny, add more cornstarch. If it is too thick, add more dish soap. I would not add several tablespoons at a time or you might add too much. The trick is to add it gradually.
- Wash hands. Make sure to wash your hands after playing with slime to protect sensitive skin. This is not an edible slime.
