So, I recently discovered that I have A LOT of scarves! I just love adding a scarf to an outfit to add that little bit of extra wow.

I’m not the only one, am I? 😉 You can really dress up a plain shirt or outfit by adding an inexpensive scarf.

It is amazing how a scarf can transform something simple into something really special. Yet another reason I love scarves!

Since I love scarves so much, I decided that I would figure out how to make a scarf organizer. Well, I have so many scarves, that I was having trouble finding the right one.

I had some in a drawer, some on a shelf and some just sitting in a box. Crazy, I know, but that is where they were.

Obviously, this was not working and I was in desperate need of some serious organization. However, I also needed to stick to a budget.

Anyway, I needed to find a better way to organize my scarves and this is what I came up with…

How to make a Scarf Organizer for under $1!

Materials needed for hanging scarf hanger:

  • 2 Plastic Adult Hanger
  • 1 Package Plastic Shower Curtain Rings

Cost for this closet scarf organizer:

I bought the shower curtain rings from Dollar General – 12 for $1.25 and I used plastic hangers I had at home. So, all in all this cost me $1.25 to make 2 scarf hangers.

That is under $1 each! You seriously can’t beat that price and how simple and easy it is to make!

Ok, are you ready? I’m sure you can figure this out just by looking at the pictures, but for those of you who like to follow directions, here you go:

  • Clip 6 shower curtain rings on each hanger. Easy!

  • Fold scarves in half and slide through curtain ring. Wa-la! I told you this was super easy.

Now you may notice from the pictures that there are 7 rings on one hanger and 5 on the other. I decided to put my lighter scarves on one hanger and the darker scarves on the other, and that is how many I had. 😉

Side note: my curtain rings slide around my hanger a bit (though my scarves don’t fall off) so you could wrap a little pipe cleaner around the hanger in between the curtain rings if that bothers you.

Just make sure to not have any sharp or pointy ends exposed. You don’t want to snag a scarf!

The best part… it is inexpensive to start storing scarves and pashminas!

You are going to love this frugal idea. No need to buy an expensive storage solution or storage system when you can easily make this scarf hanger with shower curtain rings.

This is such a great idea. Currently I have all of mine hanging on one hook in the closet. As you can imagine it’s hard to find the one I want and to keep them all on that hook.
