One of my favorite ways to save money is by making Homemade Hair Detangler. It’s so simple to make DIY Hair Detangler and works great without much expense.
Most Detanglers are actually just leave in conditioners, so this is really easy to make. This DIY hair detangler works so well and the savings will add up.
I think it actually works better and is much cheaper than store bought hair detanglers. I always hated paying a high price for what seemed like fancy water and tons of chemicals.
I started to make my own DIY hair detangler and I have saved a ton of money without toxic ingredients. Now I will never buy store bought again because it works so well without hurting your scalp. You can even get out difficult knots with this mixture without a lot of effort or tears.
I have also been making Dry Shampoo and Sea Salt Spray.

Why We Love This
After doing some research, I found out that making your own homemade detangler was actually very easy to do. With just a little conditioner and water you can make this at home.
It’s perfect to use with these Braided Ponytail Hairstyles, Half Up Half Down Hairstyles and Ponytail Hairstyles.
Supplies
- Conditioner. We prefer all natural conditioners.
- Distilled Water. I recommend using distilled instead of tap water.
- Spray Bottle. I like to use glass bottles. They seem to hold up much better.
Step By Step Instructions
- Step 1. Fill your spray bottle with water. Pour in about 2 tablespoons of conditioner.
- Step 2. Shake the container so the liquid is mixed together.
How To Use
Shake for about 30 seconds and then spritz on wet hair or dry hair to help get rid of the tangles. If the tangles are not coming out very good, then you need to add in a little more conditioner and comb again.
How Do You Make a Natural Hair Detangler?
You can use apple cider vinegar and lavender essential oils. This is an option with natural ingredients for those that do not want to use conditioner. Whatever you use, your kids hair will be soft and tangle free.
Ingredients
- Apple Cider Vinegar. Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar is my favorite brand.
- Lavender Essential Oil. This also provides a great scent. You can also use your favorite essential oils including tea tree oil, geranium, rosemary or lemon essential oil.
- Glass Spray Bottle
Step By Step Instructions
- Step 1. Fill the bottle ¼ of the way up with apple cider vinegar.
- Step 2. Add 10 drops of essential oil.
- Step 3. Finish filling up the bottle with water.
- Step 4. Shake or stir to combine.

Love your ideas for making all kinds of personal care products at home ! Regards your moisturiser, I find that coconut oil can go from solid to liquid very quickly, depending on the temperature. I wonder if this changes the texture substantially. Thanks for sharing your recipes !
Leonie – for the lotion, I whip the coconut oil for a long time with a hand held or stand up mixer. Once the coconut oil has been whipped, I find that it generally does not return to the liquid form. I live in OK which gets hot and it still doesn’t turn back for me. You do have to mix it for 5-10 minutes to get is fully whipped. Thank you!
Water does not have to be hot or warm when adding it to the bottle? Can it be left out during the summer? How long does it last? Can it be refrigerated?
