Soap dispenser ready to use.

It is incredibly simple to make homemade hand soap. No need to spend a ton of money purchasing this at the store. Plus, I love knowing my family is using an all natural soap.

We used Lavender essential oils and Tea Tree essential oils to make this liquid hand soap.  The tea tree oils works to kill germs and viruses with simple ingredients without chemicals.

In fact, make sure you read my post on lavender essential oil uses.  It is such a helpful post. If you are new to essential oils, don’t miss my post on how to use essential oils.

You can also make Homemade foaming hand soap with a foaming hand soap dispenser if you prefer the consistency of foaming hand soap.

Why We Love This

It’s so moisturizing and works so well! I have even made this for friends and put in a gift basket with other things I made. DIY lotion is another good item to put with this homemade liquid hand soap.

You will love making your own products. I love being able to control what goes into the products I am using.

This liquid hand soap recipe is amazing! It works just as well as antibacterial soaps and it’s great for sensitive skin. You will save money from buying bottles of hand soap at the store.

Supplies

Supplies for hand soap - castile soap, vitamin e oil, sweet almond oil, tea tree oil, lavender oil.
  • ¾ cup liquid Castile Soap. I like to use Dr. Bronners.
  • ¾ cup water. Distilled water or boiled water if you don’t plan to use the soap within a few weeks.
  • 1 Tbsp. vitamin E oil.
  • 1 Tbsp. nourishing oil such as sweet almond oil or jojoba oil
  • 15 drops tea tree oil
  • 5-10 drops lavender (calming) or peppermint essential oil (refreshing). For a citrus scent, try grapefruit, lemon essential oil or wild orange. You can use your favorite essential oil for the aroma you like.

Step By Step Instructions

Water poured into mason jar.

Step 1. In a mason jar, add the water first to prevent bubbles.

Liquid castile soap poured into jar.

Step 2. Then add the liquid castile soap.

Essential oils added to jar.

Step 3. Finally, add the essential oils.

Lid placed on jar of soap.

Step 4. Top your mason jar with a rust proof soap pump lid or you can use a hand soap dispenser. Shake the liquid soap mixture together.

How to Use

Shake the soap dispenser before using. Then squirt a small amount on your hands as needed and rinse with water. You will love the scent without strong fragrances in this diy hand soap.

Pro Tips

  • Water. If you don’t plan to use this soap within a few weeks, boil the water. This will kill any bacteria in tap water.
  • Carrier Oil. You can also use olive oil or fractionated coconut oil. Both of these are also very moisturizing.
  • Essential Oil for fragrance. I recommend using essential oils for fragrance and not fragrance oil. Fragrance oil can change the texture of the soap.

I made this soap and found it to be too watery. Is there any way to thicken it?

  2. ChristyR says:

Love this recipe! I’ve made it several times to replace the harsh soap in our restroom at work. I used 1/2 cup each soap and water (small dispenser), but the same amount vitamin e and almond oil. Everyone at work loves it, and their softer hands!

Where do I find Vitamin E? Is this in liquid form?

I find I don’t like the smell of tea tree oil, is there a difference in tea tree essential oil? Thanks
