Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a squeeze bottle instead of a bag?

Yes, you can also use a plastic squeeze bottle if you prefer for this homemade puffy paint recipe. Just use what you prefer, and you have on hand. I often use the bags because that is what we normally have, and they work fine.

How long does it take to dry?

The puffy paint needs to dry at least 2 hours, but I like to allow it to set overnight.

How to make puffy paint without shaving cream?

If you prefer to not use shaving cream, you can make puffy paint with salt instead. Just use 1 cup flour, ¼ teaspoon salt and 1 ½ tsp baking powder.

Add water until it is the desired consistency. I would start off with just a few drops because you can always add more.

Once the paint is the desired consistency, add the food coloring. Paint as normal.
