What is the science behind Snow Slime?
This slime is made by combining PVA glue with a slime activator. We used contact solution with boric acid in this DIY slime.
The borate ions mix together with the glue and form the slime. The consistency will be stretchy and so fun to play with.
How do you make fluffy snow slime?
It is super easy but you do need one special item. You need Glitter or Instant Snow to make snow slime.
Instant snow is so fun to work with and you can also use instant snow to make fluffy cloud slime. It is optional but really adds to the fun factor if you use instant snow.
You also want to make sure you use Saline Solution with boric acid in it when making slime. This is super important, so the slime activates correctly.

Ingredients for snow slime with instant snow:
- 1 Cup White Glue
- 2 Cups Foaming Shaving Cream
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 Tbsp Contact Solution (Make sure to use one with boric acid in it. This is a crucial ingredient for a slime activator.)
- Glitter or Instant Snow (Optional)
How to Make Cloud Slime with Instant Snow:
- Step 1. Get out a mixing bowl. Put the pva glue in a medium size mixing bowl.
- Step 2. Add the shaving cream. Mix in the shaving cream and stir until well combined.
- Step 3. Stir in the baking soda. Combine the ingredients.
- Step 4. Gradually add the contact solution. Slowly mix in 1 Tablespoon of the contact lens solution and stir until a slime is formed.
- Step 5. Wait for the slime to start pulling away. Once the glue starts pulling away from the edge of the bowl, remove the slime from the bowl.
Knead with your hands until the instant snow slime recipe is the consistency that you prefer. We like it fluffy and soft.
- Step 6. Add the glitter or Instant Snow. At this time, mix in the glitter or Instant Snow if you prefer. Start with a tbs of instant snow and continue to mix.
Storage:
Store the slime inside an airtight container or bag. It will last for several weeks if stored properly and kept clean.
Just remind children to wash their hands before playing with this. You don’t want any dirt or debris to get on the slime.
