Why We Love These Games
We always have a blast and look forward to summer. The kids love these fun water games.
When we throw a pool party last Summer, we played a ton of these pool party games for my 10 year old son and all his friends. They were the perfect pool party games that didn’t cost me a thing!
You will make so many great memories in the pool and your kids will have a blast. Enjoy this time with your family and let us know which games you decide to play!
We also love to do belly flops and a cannonball contest to see who makes the biggest splash. Plus, pool basketball, pool volleyball using the diving board, treasure hunt and simon says always provide lots of fun. You can also just toss around a beach ball.
1. Pool Noodle Jousting
This is a great game that requires some pool noodles and a couple of pool floats. You can easily get these at any Dollar Store. Simply have everyone get on their rafts in a designated area of the pool and then joust each other with the harmless noodles to see who gets knocked off.
The last one still to stay on board wins.
2. Whirlpool
Everyone gets in a giant circle holding hands and put one person in the middle of the pool. Everyone then starts moving in a circle around and around the person in the middle.
The closer you can be to the outer edges of the pool, the better the effect. As you spin faster and faster, a whirlpool will form and spin the person in the middle if the pool area is small enough.
3. Marco Polo
This classic game is super easy and it is basically tag in the pool. The difference is, the person that is “It” will be blindfolded or have their eyes closed.
They call out “Marco” to the other players and they must respond with “Polo” right away. This can lead to some fun chases in the water and is a great game for the younger set to join in.

4. Chicken Fight
This is a family favorite of ours. Our boys just love this game and to be honest, the girls love it to.
Now the kids just get on Daddy’s shoulders and then they fight to see who falls off too. Now I don’t recommend this game with the kids by themselves.
You definitely need an adult to keep the kids from getting hurt, but the kids really enjoy this one.
5. Submarine
This is a fun game for the older kids that are good swimmers and don’t need to stay in the shallow end of the pool. The object of the game is to line up on one side of the pool against the wall.
All racers will then push off the wall. You are then supposed to dive and go as far underwater as that thrust will take you. When you stop moving, the next teammate goes and tries to beat that distance in the relay race.
Keep going until a winner is crowned.
6. Shark Tag
Okay. Who has not played good old fashioned shark tag in the pool? Simply put up the fin and play tag. You can also play dolphin tag.
It is super simple, but shark attack will always produce laughter and fun for participants. You can also play freeze tag with a large group and divide players.

7. Treasure Diving
This one is a favorite for the kids and only requires a handful of coins. Toss a few into the water and have the kids go searching for them. The first player to collect the treasure wins.
If you want an adult version, you can spread them out far and wide and have a big search. Treasure diving is particularly fun if you get to keep your bounty poolside.
