Supplies Needed for tissue paper rainbow craft:
- Paper – I used a blue piece of paper but any color would work.
- Pencil
- Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple Tissue Paper
- Cotton Balls
- Glue
How to make a rainbow out of tissue paper:
Cut the tissue paper into small 1″ squares.
Draw an arc on the paper that will be the top part of your rainbow.
Then start with the red tissue paper. Wrap 1 piece around the eraser side of the pencil.
Then put a small amount of glue onto the end of the tissue paper. Do not put a ton of glue on the tissue paper as it will cause the paper to tear.
Then place the tissue paper along the arc onto the paper. Complete the full arc with the red tissue paper.
Then repeat the same process with the orange tissue paper, then the yellow, green, blue and purple to create the entire rainbow.
Then gently separate the cotton balls and glue them onto the end of the tissue paper arcs to create the clouds at the end of the rainbow.

The kids love making a tissue paper rainbow. It is really cool to see it come together as you add each piece of tissue paper.
Another idea you can try is to use a paper plate instead of the paper. Both of these work great for tissue paper crafts.
This is a fun activity for St. Patrick Day or anytime you need a rainbow themed craft. If you have younger children, you can draw a rainbow and even add the colors to help them match the right color.
