How to make Animal Paper Plate Masks

Animal paper plate masks are so simple and you probably already have all that you need at home! These are so easy that the kids can make several masks for even more fun!

We love paper plate crafts and the kids have a ton of fun. These animal paper plate masks are a blast and the kids can choose which animal they want to make.

Everyone had a blast with these summer paper plate crafts for kids so I thought I would try making animal paper plate masks. The kids are really going to love making these and playing with their new animal masks.

How do you make an animal mask out of a paper plate?

You only need some inexpensive paper plates, paint and a few other supplies. It is so easy and frugal.

Supplies for paper plate animal masks:

Paper Plates – The cheap ones work the best!
Paint
Paintbrush
Construction Paper of your choice for decoration
Pipe Cleaners for Decoration
Paper Straw
Glue

How can I make a face mask at home?

Cut the paper plates in half and color them based on the animal that you would like to create.

Then trace and cut out 2 circle onto the mask for the eyes. I used the top of the paint to trace the circle and it was the perfect size.

Then cut out the decorations for your animal that you are making. For this example, I’m creating a Cat Mask, so I cut out ears out of the construction paper and whiskers out of the pipe cleaners.

For the ears, the black portion is measured 3 inches for the long sides and 2 inches for the base. The pink portions measures 2 inches for the long side and 1 inch for the base of these triangles.

For the whiskers, I did 6 pieces total that measure 4 inches each. Also, I cut out a small rounded triangle for the nose.

Glue all the decorations to the front of the mask.

Then glue the straw to the back of the mask to hold up the mask.
